Their story

Lives joined by medicine, family, and a deep sense of duty.

From South Asia to America, their journey spanned continents and generations. What remained constant was the way they gave themselves to healing, service, and the people entrusted to their care.

Dr. Syed Sikandar and Dr. Saiyeda Madad
Partners in life, medicine, and a shared ethic of compassion.

Sikandar Madad was born in Amroha in 1943, and Saiyeda in Rawalpindi in 1947. Their stories converged at Nishtar Medical College, where a shared commitment to medicine became the beginning of a life together.

After graduation they made a home in the United States. Sikandar went on to practice urology until his retirement in 2008. Saiyeda devoted more than three decades to pediatrics, caring for children and families with a steadiness that people remembered as much as her expertise.

Service did not stop at the clinic door. Sikandar helped found Anjuman Wazifa in America and supported Imamia Medics International, while Saiyeda's care often reached beyond what was expected, especially for families navigating hardship. For both of them, medicine was never only a profession. It was a form of responsibility.

Sikandar faced ALS with dignity before his passing on July 19, 2020. Saiyeda lived with dementia in her final years and passed on March 29, 2024. They are survived by their son Ali, daughters Dr. Shirin Kao and Asma, and six grandchildren, along with a wide circle of relatives, friends, patients, and community members who continue to remember them with love.
